Mexican rice/ Sopa de arroz

Brown the rice in 2 Tablespoons of oil (or a little less)/ Sofreir arroz en 2 cuchardas de aceite (o menos).

Once it has gotten to a golden brown color add an 8oz can of tomato sauce and 5 cups of water/ Una vez que el arroz adquiera un color dorado agregar una lata de 8oz de salsa de tomate y 5 tazas de agua

Add 3 teaspoons of Knorr suiza chicken bouillon and salt to taste (if necessary)/Agregar 3 cucharaditas de Knorr suiza caldo de pollo en polvo y sal al gusto (si es necesario)

Let it come to a boil, then turn to low and simmer/ Dejar q comienze un hervor, y luego bajarle a fuego lento

Chicken, two days in a row/Pollo dos dias seguidos

Well, actually, that would be three. Because the second day I made chicken taquitos, although there were no photos.
Today, there was chicken salad sandwiches. Usually it would be chicken salad tostadas, but because I am trying to use what I have, without having to go to the store, bread was what there was. I used up the corn tortillas I had on hand for the taquitos the previous day, or I could have made my own tostadas instead of buying. . . oh well.

Bueno, mas bien, serian tres. Porque el segundo dia hice taquitos de pollo deshebrado, solo que no hay fotos de eso.
Hoy, hubo sandwiches de ensalada de pollo. Usualmente serian tostadas de ensalada de pollo, pero porque estoy intentando usar lo que ya tengo, sin tener que salir a la tienda, pan es lo que habia. Use las tortillas de maiz que tenia a la mano el dia anterior para los taquitos, si no, aiga dorado mis propias tostadas sin tener que comprar. . .nimodo.

Rain/Lluvia

Today has been such a cold and rainy day. We've had storm after storm, for the past two weeks, that I am in dire need of some sun already. So not much action was taken today at our home. We did go out early this morning with a thermos full of hot coffee and a nice stack of pancakes to see (or should I say, wake up) grandma. Pretty much that is where our day was spent today.
Hoy a sido un dia frio y lluvioso.  Hemos tenido, tormenta sobre tormenta en las ultimas dos semanas, que estoy en gran necesidad de que salga el sol ya. Haci que hoy no hubo mucha accion en nuestra casa. Si salimos hoy muy temprano, con un termo lleno de cafe calientito y un buen altero de hot cakes, a visitar a la abuelita (o bien diria yo, a despertarla). Ahi fue donde se nos fue el dia de hoy.

Saving in my kitchen/Ahorrando en mi cosina.

I cooked a few chicken breasts (that I already had in the freezer), shredded and put away in the refregirator. As for the broth, I used to make this fideo (vermicelli) soup, to which I also added cut up potatoes and carrots.
Cosi unas pechugas de pollo (que ya tenia en el congelador), deshebre y guarde en el refrigerador. El caldito, lo uso para hacer esta sopa de fideo, a la que le agregue papas y zanahorias en trozos.

I used a colander to strain the chicken broth into the pot of soup.
Use un colador para colar el caldo de pollo dentro de la olla de sopa.
